Hi there,
So much has happened since the last time I gave you
guys an update! I hardly know where start. It's been an
incredible year, that's for sure. Much of it was spent writing
my forthcoming book: See How They Run: An Energizing Guide to
Keeping Up with Your Turbo Toddler, which will be released by
Waterbrook Press in April 2004. It's the third in the series
that began with When the Belly Button Pops, the Baby's Done, and
I think it's my favorite book so far.
My little guy, Ezra, gave me so much material
for the book as his technicolor toddlerhood played out during
writing. My father-in-law says that if I had a
compliant, quiet
child who liked to read books all day long I never would have
had enough stories for my book. And he's totally right!
This summer, I signed a contract with Waterbrook
my fifth book with them, tentatively titled "We Should Do This
More Often: Passion After Parenthood." I'm currently writing
that one, and what a doozy of a topic! All this research into
the sex lives of mothers is making me feel like Dr. Ruth. It should
be a really fun book, though, and I'm excited about promoting
it.
Personally, my life has had some ups and downs.
Doyle and I are thrilled to be in the process of adopting a baby
girl from Korea. Little Phoebe Craker should be here by this
time next year. On the downside, my beloved "young uncle," Al
Loewen, has liver cancer which has now spread to his bones. I
was able to spend some precious time this summer with him, as he
joined me on a trip to glorious Vancouver, BC, for a Christian
booksellers convention. The thought of losing my soul mate, dear
friend, and uncle is almost unbearable, so I ask for your
prayers for his healing, and comfort for those who love him.
Thanks to all of you for reading my books, and
telling your friends about them. I love to hear from you, so
please drop me an email or whatever whenever the whim hits!
Recently I got a letter from a woman in Yuma, AZ, whose daughter
had named her baby Silas from my first book, "A is for Adam." I
was so touched by her letter, and by the fact that people are
still using my little baby name book! What an honor that babies
out there are named Jonah, Josiah, Benjamin, Aaron, Chloe Selah
Joy, and Acacia, and I've had a small part in their
parents'
choices.
Thanks again for your support--
Every
Blessing,
Lorilee
